Doula

A doula is offers emotional, physical and informative support during pregnancy and labor, just like mothers were being supported in pregnancy and birth by other women a long time ago.

Birth is a fantastic event, but one that can cause tension and fear for the mother. In case of stress, it will be more difficult to open yourself and therefore will slow the birth down. To be able to relax, feel safe, secure and heard will be very important to you as the birthing woman. Scientific research has shown, that the is a positive effect a doula brings, when present at birth. These effects are a gentle birth, the use of less pain medication and less (medical) interventions.

A satisfying birthing experience, will have a positive impact on you self image and will result in a better contact with your baby and your partner.

The starting point for my services are the wishes the parents have concerning pregnancy and birth. As doula, I offer parents or single mother continuous support during pregnancy and birth, home or in the hospital.

From my experience as a childbirth educator, I will help you with breathing techniques, I have knowledge of acupressure points, I will make suggestions for comfortable birthing positions and are there for you, with my open communication, unlimited support, faith and believing that the mother will birth the baby in how own pace.

If you are enthusiastic and want me as a doula present at birth, please contact me for a first 30-minute meeting, that is free of charge. In this conversation, we will talk about my services as a doula, and we will see if you there is a “click”.

In case you choose me to be your doula, I will come to your house for one or two extensive meetings in which we will talk about your prior experiences and we will discuss your wishes concerning the birth of your baby by going into detail about your birth preferences (through a birth plan).The parents point of view and the possibilities you as parents have, are the basis and the main point for my support.

Together with the mother, there will be an individual coaching session.

I will be “on call” during the entire period that your bay can be born (from 38 tot 42 weeks approximately). After the start of the birth process, I will come when you want me to.

I will stay with you during the entire birth process and will stay until the baby is born.

In the week after the birth I will call you and see how you are doing. We will then make an appointment in which we I offer the birth report to you, we'll talk through the birth and of course I will admire your baby.

The total doula service costs € 725,-. In case you only want to use the doula service beforethe birth (and I will not be “stand by” in order to be your birth doula), you pay € 250,-.

I completed the Birth Doula Course with ChildBirth International, attended the DONA Workshop with Debra Pascali-Bonaro and I am a registered member of the Dutch Proffesional Doula Association.
